The Ken Riggs Care Centre provides full time professional nursing care to residents of the Twilanga Retirement Village and members of the Umhlanga community.

The Care Centre has a total of 26 beds comprising of single rooms and 2, 3 and 4 bedroom wards. At the Ken Riggs Care Centre we cater for standard or special care patients. Applicants are assessed prior to admission to establish what degree of care is required and rates are adjusted accordingly.

Current tariffs:

Standard Care R 8 000.00 per month
Special Care R 9 300.00 per month.
All rates are renewable on 1st April annually.

The Ken Riggs Care Centre only offers shared rooms for patients, as our experience is that company prevents isolation and encourages interaction. Close liaison is maintained with the Resident’s Medical Practitioner, and all medicines and treatments are administered accordingly.

A Care Centre Committee representing residents, relatives, the local community and management meet monthly to discuss incidents, developments and improvements.

In addition, a volunteer group visits the centre to provide activities including sing-alongs, bingo, skittles, exercise classes and generally to provide company for the residents. There are no set visiting hours. Relatives and friends are encouraged to participate in the caring of their loved ones.

The Care Centre provides an emergency call-out facility for residents in the Retirement Village.

A daily clinic for residents is conducted on weekdays between 10h00 and 11h00.

Please Note:

Should a resident transfer from one of the Retirement Village units to the Care Centre they qualify for a 25% discount.
Furthermore, should a resident relinquish their Life Rights Lease they qualify for an additional 25% discount.
