Admission Criteria

On date of admission, residents must be at least 60 years of age (primary and secondary residents)
You or your immediate family must be or have previously been a resident of Ethekwini Municipality for at least 5 years.
Applicants from outside the EThekwini area will be considered by the Management Board only in exceptional circumstances.
When you are provisionally offered a place at Twilanga, you will be asked for personal information and you will be assessed before you are given a firm offer. Full details will be provided at the time. Criteria for acceptance include, among others:

You must be of sound medical (physical and mental) condition and able to look after yourselves and a health assessment will be performed
You must be financially independent yourselves or supported by a financially independent surety (usually a family member) and a detailed statement of your or your surety’s assets and liabilities will be required

Change of Address or Phone Number

It is your responsibility to inform Twilanga of any changes in phone numbers or email addresses. Twilanga will contact you annually in March inviting you to renew your subscription to the mailing list. Twilanga will not accept any liability for any failure to contact you with regard either to units becoming available or renewal of name on the waiting list should either phone numbers or addresses not be correct at the time of contacting you. It is your responsibility to ensure that your details are up to date.
